I love the summer when the zinnias are in full bloom and the butterflies are softly flying about. The colors of summer are filled with joy and promise. I was inspired to paint these summertime zinnias when I found some gorgeous antique color zinnias at the farmer's market. The colors blend together as if they are already a painting. I have a collection of vintage jam jars, and this was perfect for the bunch and this loose still-life painting of the flowers. I have used vintage textures and ephemera under the flowers to give them an antique distressed feel.
